An 18-year-old Newark man has been detained by police for his alleged role in a string of armed robberies throughout Essex County, according to reports. Police believe he is one of three men who robbed a Hillside Place resident as he was sitting in a parked car in his driveway around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 28. One of the men was armed with a shotgun and ordered the victim to exit his car and get on the ground. The trio then reportedly stole the victim's wedding band and iPhone and ran away.
New Jersey authorities accused two people of robbing a man, kidnapping him and stealing items from his home on Nov. 17. The individuals were identified as a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man.

A 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old man from Magnolia were taken into custody on Oct. 31 after allegedly robbing a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint. During the incident, one of the men reportedly pulled a black handgun out and pointed it at the driver, and the two men then fled with an unreported amount of cash.
Authorities took a 23-year-old New Jersey man into custody on Sept. 10 after he allegedly shot and killed a 32-year-old man in an attempted robbery. The incident occurred on Sept. 5 in East Orange in front of the deceased man's residence.
A 35-year-old man was taken into custody in connection to an alleged bank robbery on Aug. 30 in Jackson. Reports say a male wearing blue jeans and a gray sweatshirt entered a bank around 12 p.m. and allegedly handed a note to a teller asking for money. After the teller delivered an undisclosed sum of money to the man, he reportedly left the bank and headed towards Brewers Ridge Road.
Two brothers, aged 28 and 23, as well as their mother, were placed in custody in relation to the events surrounding the alleged robbery of a Woodbury bank. Woodbury police say that they responded to a report of a robbery at the bank in the 400 block of Mantua Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of July 5. A man had allegedly entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash and had claimed to have a firearm. The teller reportedly obliged the man's demand for money. However, police said that the suspect in the robbery had exited the bank by the time police arrived.
A man has recently been sentenced, stemming from an incident that occurred near a Point Pleasant Beach motel on Jan. 19, 2012. The New Jersey man was accused of robbery, assault and other weapons charges resulting from an altercation in which the man supposedly used a metal trash can as a weapon. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges and has been sentenced to six years in prison.
