New Jersey resident accused of drug crimes in New York

When hearing reports about criminal charges, many stereotypes about the defendants involved can come to mind for New Jersey residents. However, these stereotypes are sometimes far from accurate. For example, many people immediately think that anyone accused of selling drugs has no job and uses drug sales as a way to make money to live on or to avoid otherwise contributing to society.

The case of a New Jersey resident recently charged with selling illegal and prescription drugs disproves this stereotype. In this case, the defendant is a 33-year-old firefighter in Brooklyn. The man has been a member of the fire department for eight years. Clearly this defendant is far from the image of an unemployed person looking for an easy way out. It is also important for people to remember that simply being accused of a crime does not mean he is guilty.

Reports state that he is accused of selling Xanax, Vicodin, heroin and other prescription medications in front of a service station as well as in front of the Brooklyn firehouse at which he was based. The alleged drug sales are said to have taken place over a period of eight months beginning in the early spring and lasting through to around Thanksgiving. Wire taps were used to collect evidence but little is know about what exactly this entails.

People who are accused of these crimes may find their professional lives at risk. Talking to an attorney when these types of charges have been made may help defendants understand their options.
