Heroin at center of drug charges against 3 Ocean County residents

People in New Jersey who are arrested on various drug charges can understandably be scared and unsure of what to do. Facing serious consequences, the prospect of a successful defense can seem slim. However, it is important for anyone accused of drug crimes such as drug possession or distribution to remember that the law guarantees them the right to fight any allegations.

This is exactly what one Ocean County resident will need to know after his recent arrest for multiple drug offenses. A joint effort by Barnegat Police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office led to a house raid after they obtained a search warrant noted as “no-knock”. Reports indicate that heroin in both a raw and packaged form was found along with various drug paraphernalia.

A total of three people were arrested after the raid. Two of the defendants, a 25-year old man and a 26-year old woman, have since been released from custody after being charged with possession of heroin.

The third defendant, a 42-year old man, remains in jail on a $100,000 cash bail. He has been charged with multiple offenses including the manufacture of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, drug distribution, drug possession and more. It is unknown what his potential consequences could be if he is convicted of any or all of the charges against him.

From search and seizure to time in court, the process of a drug arrest and its aftermath can be complicated. People who have been arrested and charged with these offenses may wish to talk to an attorney promptly.
