Man charged with possession after receiving LSD package

On March 27, it was reported that a New Jersey man was taken into custody after authorities alleged that he accepted a package that contained LSD. He was ultimately charged with a number of drug offenses, including possession and possession with intent to distribute.

The authorities allegedly searched the man's Trenton home after observing him accept the package from an undercover officer. The package had reportedly been sent from Europe but was intercepted by the authorities while it was in transit. During the execution of the search warrant, the authorities reportedly retrieved the package, which contained 100 doses of LSD. Authorities also recovered LSD test kits and marijuana oil inside the home. It was estimated that the LSD has a street value of approximately $2,500, while the marijuana oil has a street value of approximately $150.

The accused man was reportedly being detained by Trenton police on $75,000 bail and was still in custody at the time of the report. The man's wife, who was in the home during the seizure, was initially detained but ultimately not charged.

In the state of New Jersey, being accused of drug crimes, such as drug possession or possession with intent to distribute, could result in serious consequences. Penalties could include a jail sentence and probation. Depending on the case circumstances, there are several defense strategies that may be utilized by a criminal law attorney. For example, an attorney may argue that the seized drugs did not belong to the accused person and that they may have been set up. The attorney could also potentially argue that the search warrant that was executed by the authorities was illegal.
