Brick Township man facing felony charge after alleged robbery

An Ocean County man is facing serious charges in connection with an alleged holiday robbery at a gas station. Detectives claim to have identified the man through security footage.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, police were called to a gas station on Lanes Mill Road, close to the exit from the Garden State Parkway. The attendant alleged that he pumped gas into a Honda Civic at the request of a white male, described as being around 5'10" with brown hair. The man, the attendant claims, then produced a knife and allegedly robbed the attendant for an unknown amount of money. The man left the scene in the Civic, at which time the attendant phoned the authorities.

Detectives from the Brick Township Police Department allegedly examined the gas station's security camera footage. As a result, they claim that a 38-year-old man, who lives on Cottonwood Drive in Brick, is the man shown on the footage. Authorities have charged the Brick man with armed robbery in the first degree along with two weapons-related charges. The man's bail has been set at $300,000, and he is currently being held in a Toms River jail.

Failure to defend against a first-degree robbery or other felony charge can have severe consequences. This can include lengthy prison time and may have considerable long-term effects on a person's life. In cases where robbery and weapons charges are being sought by authorities, an attorney with experience in criminal defense may be able to help. The attorney may be useful in ensuring that a person's constitutional rights are respected throughout the defense process, as well as in negotiating with authorities during plea bargaining.
