New Jersey man pleads guilty to assault with a metal garbage can

A man has recently been sentenced, stemming from an incident that occurred near a Point Pleasant Beach motel on Jan. 19, 2012. The New Jersey man was accused of robbery, assault and other weapons charges resulting from an altercation in which the man supposedly used a metal trash can as a weapon. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges and has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Lacey man facing heroin, theft charges after search of residence

An Ocean County man was recently arrested after police searched a home in Bay Way and reportedly seized 92 folds of heroin. According to the Asbury Park Press, police were investigating a number of residential burglaries that took place in Lacey Township this past summer. The news article does not indicate that investigators anticipated finding any drugs at the residence.

Police: 'Suspicious meeting' led to 2 drug arrests in Berkeley

A primary question in many criminal cases is whether or not police had the right to conduct a search and seizure. Even if a person is found to be in possession of illegal drugs or weapons, the evidence may not be admissible in court if police officers failed to follow proper procedure.
