Officer's drunk driving hearing scheduled soon

New Jersey residents who are arrested for criminal offenses know that the stereotypes associated with many criminal charges are not accurate. For example, it is often believed that people charged with driving while under the influence are generally irresponsible in their lives and may not even hold steady jobs. That is far from true as many highly responsible and professional people find themselves facing these types of charges.

In fact, sometimes it is even members of law enforcement agencies themselves that can be accused of impaired driving. One officer from New Jersey was actually arrested for drunk driving in 2015 and eventually sentenced to a 90-day period in which his license was suspended. This past summer, the same officer was allegedly involved in vehicular crashes and has since been accused of impaired driving related to those crashes. It has even been said that he failed to stop at the scenes of the crashes.

The 2016 events took place in Pennsylvania and that is where the officer will attend a hearing scheduled for some time in December. His official charges include reckles driving, resisting arrest and driving while under the influence. It is not known what penalties he may face if he is ultimately convicted.

People who find themselves charged with crimes may want to talk with an attorney. Doing this can often give insight into how to approach a defense and help to understand the potential consequences associated with a case.
