Claims of potential criminal activity surround new game

Most New Jersey residents by now have at least heard about the newest range in video games to hit the streets. Even people who have not played Pokemon Go have likely heard references to it. Those references may be positive or negative depending upon the situation in which the discussion was taking place.

While many people are singing the praises of what is reportedly a very fun and interactive game, others are issuing warning after warning that it could increase activity among predators or those looking to commit crimes against other people. Just how fair those statements or concerns are is not quite understood at this point. A person who plays the game and uses the location services built into the system should not have to worry that someone is going to turn around and make allegations that the services were used for illegal reasons.

Much of the controversy centers around suspected sex offenders or hackers looking to gain access to others' accounts or identities. Yet, without concrete evidence that crimes have been committed, it is hard to know just what should happen. While some people are calling on the manufacturer to enable security controls, the company is holding off at this point.

Any person in New Jersey who may be accused of a crime related to playing a video game might want to consider a legal consultation. Talking to an attorney can help people understand options especially in very unusual circumstances.
