New Jersey brothers and mother detained in bank robbery

Two brothers, aged 28 and 23, as well as their mother, were placed in custody in relation to the events surrounding the alleged robbery of a Woodbury bank. Woodbury police say that they responded to a report of a robbery at the bank in the 400 block of Mantua Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of July 5. A man had allegedly entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash and had claimed to have a firearm. The teller reportedly obliged the man's demand for money. However, police said that the suspect in the robbery had exited the bank by the time police arrived.

Police say that they used unspecified investigative techniques to determine that the 28-year-old brother was the man in the bank and claimed that he had an extensive criminal history. Police also claim that the 23-year-old brother was involved in the alleged crime as a driver. The older brother was detained in Egg Harbor Township after several days of investigation on the part of police.

The two men have been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The 28-year-old brother is being held in Salem County Jail on bail of $250,000 while his brother is being held on bail of $100,000. Their mother has also been charged in relation to allegedly obstructing law enforcement's efforts to detain her sons. She has been released until she isl be required in court.
