A 35-year-old New Jersey woman made her first court appearance recently on charges stemming from an incident said to have occurred in Jersey City. The woman has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, escape and criminal mischief and aggravated assault on a medical service provider. Her bail has been set to $7,500.
Police charged a New Jersey man who fell victim to a rip current at Seaside Heights with multiple offenses after he allegedly became violent with a lifeguard who tried to help him. Authorities said the New Jersey man was 'clearly under the influence" when the June 14 incident occurred.
Police in New Jersey have taken three people into custody following a raid on a home in Phillipsburg. The raid was executed by the Warren County Narcotics Task Force, the Warren County Tactical Response Team and the Phillipsburg police at approximately 3:40 p.m. on June 10. The three accused are being charged with various drug crimes, including possession of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and conspiracy to possess heroin.
According to state authorities, a New Jersey woman was sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of drug and gun charges. In March, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. She later pleaded guilty to possession of a revolver as a convicted felon. She received a seven-year sentence for the drug possession charge and a five-year sentence for the weapons charge. Both sentences will be served concurrently, and she will be eligible for parole once she has served five years in prison.
