State Assemblyman arrested for DWI, denies charges

A New Jersey State Assemblyman was arrested on charges of DWI recently, after being pulled over by police just before 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The legislator was brought to the police station and charged with an additional two counts, including refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test. The Assemblyman denies all charges, calling the incident a blatant abuse of power.

The report of the incident was allegedly produced by the police specifically for the media. It does not include details about the probable cause for stopping the Assemblyman, nor does it indicate what led the arresting officer to conclude that the statesman had been drinking. Police denied requests for a full police report, claiming that an inquiry had to be made as to whether it was public record.

According to the Assemblyman, an officer pulled him over as he left a local car dealership and asserted that he had just cut him off. The legislator refuted this claim and the officer ordered him from his car and demanded his participation in a field sobriety test. He then cited him for DWI. The Assemblyman was clear in asserting that he had consumed no alcohol.

The statesman also mentioned that the arresting officer was previously fired from the police department for allegedly presenting false testimony in an Internal Affairs investigation. He was reinstated as the result of a court order. Police had no comment on this matter.

According to local media sources, the police are aware of the Assemblyman's claims. However, they declined to comment directly, saying simply that all complaints will be investigated as per the guidelines of the state of New Jersey.

The Assemblyman did not indicate why he thought he may have been singled out or whether he had any prior relationship with the arresting officer.
